Skills Letter

Here is another assignment for my class. I am writing a cover letter for a job as an athletic trainer with the skills that I have right now...

Having spent the majority of my life unfit, in recent years I have spent a lot of time educating myself on what is healthy for your body and actively putting what I have learned and applying it to my daily life. With seeing the results of my education and work, I have the desire to share that with others who struggle with weight. Because of this I will be able to understand each patient I see and will be able to relate with them and teach them the skills they need to acquire to be healthy active people.

My Top 10 Values

For one of my classes I am required to start a blog, write a mission statement, and post my top 10 values. I will every once and a while be required to add things to that blog. Since this is my own personal blog and not my family blog I will just use this one for my career portfolio. If you choose not to read these things, that is fine, and if you do, you will get to know a deeper me. (lucky you!)

Choosing my top ten values was really not that hard for me. Putting them in order of their importance to me was the most difficult. I am glad that this class has forced me to write down my values and their order of importance to me. It might give my friends a deeper look into who I am and what is important to me. So here goes nothing.

1. Passion- Passion is important to me because it is what drives me. If I am not passionate about something, I don’t really care about it. I tend to get passionate about everything that I learn. This is why it is the number one on my list. It is by far the most important to me and the thing that drives me the most.

2. Relationships- Whether it is spending time with family or friends, I love being around people. I am rarely shy and LOVE meeting new people. I also love to force myself to get out of my own comfort zone and learn about new people. There is such an energy that you get from being around others. To me it’s like food.

3. Education and Teaching- There is something about my kids learning new things that bring me a type of joy that is unexplainable. I love seeing the "light go on" and seeing their excitement as they figure new things out and the pride they take and feel in accomplishing something. I think as adults we tend to not give ourselves enough credit for our hard work. My kids are constant reminders that it is exciting to learn new things and we should be proud of it! I love to learn new things and enjoy making myself a well rounded person.

4. Freedom &

5. Independence- I believe that these two things are very similar and go hand in hand. I love to do stuff just for me. As a woman in Utah I feel the same pressure most Utah women feel to be perfect all the time. I play so many different types of roles all day long I tend to lose myself. By doing things just for me (even if its 20 minutes in the bathroom reading in the tub) I love doing things just for me because it makes all the other roles I fill so much easier to do. I am able to do them with enthusiasm and excitement, rather than dread the next task at hand. Having a freedom and independence I am able to all in all be a better me!

6. Health &

7. Personal appearance- I love to workout. I also love to learn about our bodies, they way they work and how we can make them faster, stronger, healthier. I am a health education junkie. I love going to the library and reading on all the different theories on health and fitness. I can talk about it forever, to anyone and am a strong believer that ANYONE if they put their mind and have their heart in it can be healthy fit people. (and still enjoy the brownie every now and then)

8. Sense of accomplishment &

9. Achievement – There is nothing better than working hard at something and then seeing the end product knowing that you did that, you changed it, you made that difference. Getting that recognition from others is empowering and life changing. It drives you to keep making a difference and working hard to make a change. Even if that recognition comes from within, just the sense of accomplishment is well worth all the hard work and effort.

10. Financial comfort- This may be the #1 thing for many people. While this is important to me, it is the last on my list because there are many other things that bring me happiness other than money. It still made my top ten though because let’s be honest, I love shopping and I love dressing my kids in cute clothes as well as be able to afford to go on vacations and have nice things. This does sound a little vain, but ultimately I would love to be able to financially be able to do the essential things in life as well as be a little extravagant. Having a job that I love and one that will bring me financial comfort would be the best job in the world.

So there you have it, my top 10 values. I think that over time these values will not change maybe their priority will change, but not the value itself.

My Latest Obsession..

Years ago my sister in law, Robyn, watched this show... This was before the days of DVR's, so I always remember her talking about scheduling her life this silly show. At the time I had never heard of it, but now I do have to say thanks to her, a couple days ago I saw it on Netflix and started watching it. The show... drum-roll please....

Veronica Mars

I Love it.. you will too!

L*O*S*T

The week of my surgery the Bretster and I watched Lost.
Oh.. I mean every season of Lost.
We made it to season 6 by the time our kids were back home and watched an episode every night until we were all caught up.
I just have to say I have a huge crush on these two characters.

I love them both for very, very different reasons.. needless to say on Sunday I will be very sad to not have a weekly dosage of their hotness.

Oh how I Love Chi

My Chi died today.
I am very sad.
I wish I had a lot of money to buy a brand spankin' new one.
I guess I will get the off brand... Sad.

My chi has taught me many life lessons.
I don't have to ever have frizzy hair ever again
She alone can fix ANY bad hair day
A day without her is a day gone to waste
She curled, straightened, flattened, and flipped my hair almost everyday she was in my care.
I will miss her so much!!

Mr. Roonie and Spiders

This is Mr. Roonie. He LOVES spiders.
His favorite song is Itsy Bitsy Spider. He even does all the actions.
He always comes running when he pretends to see a spider.

This morning he really saw one.. two.. three.. four... and FIVE!

Now we are both sitting on the couch away from the spiders.
I hate spiders.

The Need for Speed

I love to drive. I love even more to drive fast. About 5 years ago I got 3 speeding tickets in less than 6 months. Needless to say my need for speed has been drained on by the cost of speeding... higher insurance, plus the costs of tickets. WOW! I cant wait until October when our insurance rate will be $10 a month cheaper because I will be ticket free for 5 years! WAHOO!!! (knocking on wood)
The Bretster and I use to joke about stupid drivers all the time by finishing our conversation with "and I'm/you're the one that gets tickets". And after almost 5 years I think I am slowly changing my mind its just people who don't pay attention. I am SO SO guilty of texting and driving

Yesterday I had a very interesting experience at my crosswalk. Yeah, yeah you are all jealous that I am a cross guard and you're not. Up until yesterday I was a rover... meaning I did crosswalks all over filling in the spot of the others who took days off. Now I have my very own crosswalk and I was lucky to start it off with a motorcycle cop radaring for speeders. I was only there 10 minutes before he pulled someone over! Which is great because hardly ANYONE slows down in school zones. People SLOW DOWN! It was this way nice new VW. The cop wrote the ticket and went back to place when this Asian man on his cell phone approaches me. I think nothing of it since I am in the inner city of Salt Lake so there are always a lot of adults not just kids that cross at crosswalks. He then asks me where the school zone lights are. AH!!! This is the guy in the VW. He then proceeds to tell me he was on the phone with the court because he didn't see any school zone lights. Um.. really? The lights are the biggest ones I have seen in the city limits! Then asks if they are on! I show him where the lights are and tell him that yes they are on. This man starts to walk away kindly saying thanks and then goes and checks to see if the lights really were on. SERIOUSLY?!?!

Okay, so maybe people who get tickets are those who don't pay attention while driving!!

Love

I just loved this article today on msn!

After church the Bretster and I were watching the Masters. I don't get why anyone would want that UGLY green jacket.. the money okay.. the jacket... EWW!
On the 18th hole after Mickelson won he walked into the crowd embraced his wife Amy and kissed her. It was a touching moment. You could tell the two of them truly cared for one another. A moment that the world got to see, yet it was so personal, as if the two of them were there with no one around. It was special and a moment I will always remember.

This isn't from yesterday, but I still LOVE it!

What are the things that you love most about your spouse?

Butts and Guts

My friend asked me to go to butts and guts with her. Feeling super ambitious Wednesday I agreed to go.
Today is Friday and I can barely walk up and down my stairs. How many weeks of this class do I do before I get a butt like this or even the body that goes with it...

A girl can dream right...

I'll be back Wednesday anyone else want to join us?

The Beginning

Where to start? First I guess I will start with a little bit about me. I am a 20 something, wife, stay at home mom of 2, cross guard by trade, soon too be full time student. I enjoy music, time with family and friends, trying to make other laugh and sleep.. mostly sleep. I love a clean house though mine is rarely clean anymore. Pink is my favorite color.... Pink it was love at first sight. *I am totally singing the song out loud right now* ...... I love to argue, not to be angry though. I love to argue so someone will talk me out of whatever ridiculous idea I have come up with or to tell me that I am overreacting. In three words I am outgoing, extreme, passionate.

This blog is about me, my life, the things I find funny, the reasons I enjoy life.

Right now as I am typing Mr. Roonie (Tait), is sitting next to me trying to fit his big toe in his ear. Maybe I'll try it with him....
